You heard right: The Columbia Gateway Drive Talent Fair and Food Truck Roundup is back.
What’s the first thing you would do in an emergency?
For most people, they’d grab a phone. They’d call 911, text a loved one, or log in to social media to alert others of the situation and their condition. This automatic response—to reach for a mobile device in the face of a crisis—wasn’t even on the horizon a few decades ago. Now, we’re more connected than ever.Tweet
We welcomed a new Creative to our team this summer: Morgan Haddaway signed on as an intern with us and, in between taking pics of our ice cream deliveries and researching Blaise Pascal quotes, she’s been tackling a pretty substantial research project on all things viral. I decided to get some of these great nuggets out to the interwebs via the following Q/A. Enjoy!Tweet
ADG Creative’s Senior Recruiter, Lauri Bianco, is never quite sure what the candidate is chewing on across the table from her. (Seriously, toss out that Trident!). Regardless, she always ends an interview by opening the floor for questions. Below are five questions that she’s come to expect, as well as her thoughtful responses.Tweet
We’ve spent a few weeks reflecting upon 2016’s Bring Your Kids to Work Day. A day filled with munchkins (both the human, adolescent kind, and the tasty powdered morsels provided by Dunkin’ Donuts), the Gateway’s finest adult supervision, and ADG’s in-house production crew, we embarked upon the day with light stretching, caffeine and a team huddle before ADG Creative’s youngest recruits descended upon the small conference room in their glittered headbands and Velcro shoes ready to rumble.Tweet
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve witnessed first-hand the infatuation the world has had with virtual reality headset Oculus Rift since it was officially released in March. The first round of pre-orders sold out immediately and now the estimated ship date if you order one today is August. That’s three months from now.
Amidst all the speculation and critiques, I wanted to get to the heart of what Oculus Rift – and virtual reality as a whole – is really all about by running it through media theory legend Marshall McLuhan’s tetrad of media effects. You may be surprised – and even a little disturbed – by what I discovered. Continue Reading »Tweet
Our production floor was eerily quiet a couple Thursdays ago. No printers were humming, X-Acto knives were tucked away in drawers, and computer screens were black.
A daylong sabbatical, Designers withdrew from their computer desk chair thrones (and in Sarah’s case, her exercise ball) to convene offsite for SPARK, the 2016 Design Team Summit for a day of design inspiration to reignite their creative spark. Leading the troop on this day of workshops, discussions, and presentations was Studio Director, Maribel Costa and Creative Directors, Linda Rochelle, Mary Wilcox, and Todd Fidelman.Tweet
When it came time for ADG’s Chief Creative Officer Jeff Antkowiak to speak at the third annual Ignite Howard County, he chose the topic of brevity. So I’ll keep this brief.
In short, Ignite brings together a series of speakers who each touch on a topic of their choice for just five minutes, using 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. Talk about brief.Tweet
Perhaps it is because they make it just so easy to poke fun. I mean, really easy. In case you aren’t familiar with hipsters, this quote from Time magazine’s Brief History of Hipsters pretty much sums it up:
Hipsters are the friends who sneer when you cop to liking Coldplay. They’re the people who wear T-shirts silk-screened with quotes from movies you’ve never heard of and the only ones in America who still think Pabst Blue Ribbon is a good beer. They sport cowboy hats and berets and think Kanye West stole their sunglasses. Everything about them is exactingly constructed to give off the vibe that they just don’t care.
