ADG vs. The World – Week Eight

  Last week’s ADG vs. The World category was “beverages.” We were looking for a drink that’s good for your bones, triggers “cenosillicaphobia” when it runs out, was illegal in Iceland until 1989, and was “pooh poohed” as barely-alcoholic by the Russians until 2013. No, it’s not vodka-flavored absinthe-milk! (eeew.)

  Last week’s ADG vs. The World category was Brands and we were looking for a US brand that dominates in China and still sells big at home, whose founder’s death inspired weeks of half-staff flags across Kentucky, and has a “spicy” social media strategy.

We were looking for the U.S. President who had his gallstones removed WITHOUT anesthesia or sterilization (yikes!), signed a peace treaty between Mexico and the U.S., was the ninth pick of the Democratic Party delegates, and served only one term.

Market Your Tech Product Like He-Man

Three days after my seventh birthday, I witnessed the most compelling commercial ever; one that offered a product that would change my life, or at least my Saturday mornings, for the next three years. It took the form of a 30-minute animated production (with its own meta-commercial breaks) for a series of toys by Mattel—He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. That product franchise would go on to create over two-billion dollars in revenue for Mattel over the next several years.

ADG vs The World, Week Two

Last week’s inaugural ADG vs. The World was close. We were looking for a U.S. city that has only gotten snow on Christmas Day four times in recorded history, has a downtown called “Uptown,” consumes massive amounts of pimento cheese, and has no zoo.

  Here at ADG, we love games. From food contests to our infamous costume awards, you’ll find a healthy spirit of competition within our walls. For the past several years, we have had a friendly bingo competition played through our daily internal newsletter. Every weekday, we would draw a bingo ball and note it somewhere in our internal daily news. ADGers would mark off a bingo card, with the winning player securing a coveted reserved parking spot until the next bingo game.
